The term recurrent miscarriage describes cases of three or more consecutive miscarriages before 23 weeks of gestation. Sometimes investigations begin after one or two miscarriages, for example in second trimester abortion, in fertility cases, etc.

A miscarriage is a very painful experience.

Recurrent miscarriages may be due to a woman’s advanced age and a history of miscarriages, genetic factors, fetal abnormalities, immunological causes, anatomical problems of the uterus, endocrinological factors, infections or thrombophilia.

The investigation and treatment of recurrent miscarriages includes prenatal care of a pregnant patient, examination of uterine anatomy, genetic screening of the couple and the embryo, testing for vaginal infections, thrombophilia, as well as endocrinological and / or immunological abnormalities.
