Breast
The frequency breast of disease among women has increased but, at the same time, marked developments have occurred both in the diagnosis (digital - magnetic mammography, etc) and treatment practices.
The treatment of such conditions requires specialized medical care complying to current protocols.
All surgical interventions of breast conditions are carried out at St. Luke's Hospital.
Patients with the following conditions are referred to the Breast Clinic:
• breast findings
(identified during self examination, mammography or ultrasound)
• high risk patients
(history of breast conditions, history of hormonal therapy, genetic risk factors)
• women referred to the Clinic by clinicians of other specialties
• women who are difficult to monitor
(dense breast tissue, fibrocystic breast condition, silicone implants)
• women with urgent problems
(inflammation, abscess, puerperal mastitis)
• male patients
(breast masses, gynaecomastia)
