In vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
|
In vitro refers to the fertilization of an oocyte by a spermatozoon outside the human body (i.e. in the laboratory).
In conventional IVF, the sperm is processed in the laboratory and then placed in a petri dish, containing the oocytes, for fertilization to occur.
In the case of ICSI, a specially trained Embryologist chooses a single spermatozoon and, with very delicate manipulations, places it in the center of the oocyte.
More detailed information regarding the stages of IVF treatment, natural cycle IVF, fertility preservation, additional techniques available, etc. may be found here.
If you reside outside of Thessaloniki and are interested in IVF treatment at the Gynaecology & Fertility Centre, please complete the following preliminary application form and send it to us via fax (+30 2310 402661) or e-mail (tsakos@gynfert.gr).
